A Quick Walkthrough to Amir’s Filmy Career

(2003) and Padma Bhushan (2010) award winner Amir Khan is a very popular actor,
director, and film producer. In a recent past Amit was also known for the
second season of his all new television talk show “Satyamev Jayate”. The show
highlights several crucial and sensitive issues touching masses in modern
India. Amir is appreciated by one and all for his perfectionist attitude in
living character on the screen. With this note as a preface let us review some
of the best films of one of the most influential and popular actor of our time.
Amir’s first
debut in Indian cinema started back in 1973 in film “Yadon Ki Barat”. One of
the most notable films of Amir that brought him fame and a name in Bollywood
industry was a tragic romance. The film “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” released in
1988, Amir costarred with Juhi Chawla was a big time hit among youngsters. It
is believed that Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet had a significant influence on
the film’s romantic storyline. The movie was also a musical hit for its
soothing romantic songs.
Year 2001 in
Bollywood and in Amir’s film career was a great break through to success. Amir
launched his product company with its first and yet a big time hit movie
“Lagaan”. The awesome story of the movie amazed the audience and bagged Amir Awards
such as National Film Award in Best Popular Film category in addition to two
more Filmfare Awards in Best Film and Best Actor category. The film also earned
him nominations for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Lagaan
was the third Indian film to be nominated in this category on an international
forum. The movie got a special mention in a special English article "The
All-TIME 25 Best Sports Movies" in Time magazine and was ranked at 55th
position in Empire magazines "The 100 Best Films of World Cinema".
Amir is known
for giving the best films and after almost a gap of four long years after
release of Lagaan, Amir appeared in box office hits such as Fanaa, Rang De
Basanti, and Taare Zameen Par. Taare
Zameen Par was a directorial debut of Amir and was again produced by the actor.
The movie received awesome response from audience and movie critics alike. The
film centered around a social cause of child education. It portrayed how each
child is unique and the need to identify what one’s child is at best instead of
pushing the child for traditional educations system.
Ranchodas
Chanchad was a very popular character played by Amir in his one of the most
critically and commercially acclaimed film 3 Idiots. Like Taare Zameen Par,
this movie picked up the social cause of Education and highlighted how there is
an immense need to study the subject to understand rather than to pass an
exam. 3 Idiots broke all the records of
Amir’s earlier films and was also earned him a name and success in entire East
Asian Market including China. The film earned over 25 million Dollars, which
was the highest foreign revenue of all time in Bollywood. In addition, the film
earned several accolades and awards in best director and best film categories
including six Filmfare Awards, over ten Star Screen Awards, and over sixteen
IIFA Awards.
The most recent
and the most difficult roles played by Amir in his entire film career, was in
Dhoom 3. The film did an awesome business worldwide grossing over 2 Billion
dollars in just three days. After
Ghajani and 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 was the 3rd movie from Amir that
topped the Bollywood industry in terms of business volume.
